Sean, Mitch, Cooper and I logged four days on the water at Sekiu. What a week! Chinook Salmon fishing was really good last week for the opener, so it was an easy sell to drive up to Mason’s Resort. This is my second trip up there and it’s my new favorite place to set up …
I rang in the New Year the same way as I did last year, with an early-to-bed-early-to-rise schedule so that my awesome crew could enjoy opening day of the Winter Blackmouth fishing season in Seattle’s Marine Area 10. The last time I had my boat out salmon fishing on Puget Sound was mid-September, and the …
I could think of no better way to ring in my birthday than a float down the Queets River with my buddies. October is one of my favorite months to get the old drift boat on the river. All of Olympic Peninsula’s rivers have good numbers of Coho and Chinook right now, but the Queets …
Possession Bar Salmon Fishing near Whidbey Island, Washington Possession Bar is one of the most storied salmon fishing areas in all of Puget Sound. In essence, this massive shelf is an underwater extension of Whidbey Island. The tides push heavy against it, as it is located where Admiralty Inlet, Possession Sound and Central Puget Sound …
The Humptulips River is one of Western Washington’s most popular fall salmon rivers, and for good reason. Even before the first fall rains cause salmon to flood upstream in the rising coastal rivers, Chinook (King), Coho (Silver) and Chum (Dog) salmon begin to stage in the tidewater stretch near the mouth of the Humptulips River. …

I poured my first cup of coffee at 4 am this morning with the sound of heavy rain outside my kitchen window. It would be a soaker during our morning mooching trip. One of those rare summer rainstorms that makes you feel like we have time-warped straight into fall. It was the first time I …
Salmon fishing paradise on Vancouver Island’s West Coast. We set out this week to discover one of the most storied fishing towns on British Columbia’s Vancouver Island: Ucluelet. Our trip was timed to get in on the great West Coast migration of southward bound Chinook Salmon. I’m back home, so let’s call them Chinook, but …

Josh and I headed out very early this morning for a few hour mooching session before work. I have trailered all month, and finally have my moorage figured out. Having a boat moored is the only way to go during summer salmon season, especially for quick trips like today. We motored out of Shilshole, filled …
We skipped yesterday’s Puget Sound Chinook opener, but made it out today and it sure was a good one! The crew comprised of my two good buddies Ross and Chris, and of course boat mascot and salty dog Miles. Last week was his tenth birthday but he’s still barking at seagulls and diligently stares at …
Today was another picture perfect day on Puget Sound. We headed out a few days before the Chinook kill season to scout out a few of our favorite salmon mooching areas and experienced some great fishing! Our crew were all new moochers, but picked up the technique quickly and found a few really nice salmon …

Took a couple really cool clients out on Sunday and the chew was on! Mooching is a great way to really connect with Puget Sound’s salmon, and once you feel your first mooching bite, with the rod in your hand and get to battle a beautiful salmon on light tackle, it is difficult to transition …
Marine Area 10 – Great Fishing! We made it out for another exciting weekend on Puget Sound. There is no shortage of great salmon fishing action going on right now and plenty of other folks have keyed in on this! We fished Marine Area 10, Seattle’s backyard, and found a healthy mix of Coho and …
