Our Story
I launched Riptidefish.com in 2012 as a way to share my passion for fishing with anyone in the Pacific Northwest that would find it motivating. Over the years, I have received thousands of messages from folks that want the same thing as me, to enjoy their time on the water with their family and friends. Like myself, many people feel motivated yet intimidated when they try to discover a new fishery… Where do I go? What tackle and techniques do I use? What should I expect? How am I going to be successful? The whole point of this site is to encourage people to get out and explore our region’s great rivers, lakes and marine areas. I have lived in Washington State my entire life, and fished most of it, and still have a long list of great fishing haunts that I haven’t experienced yet!
Our Tackle Shop
Throughout this long journey of running a fishing blog, I have come to realize that aside from timing and location, figuring out what tackle and gear to use is one of the big questions most have. So, in 2021 we launched a small online tackle shop on Riptidefish.
Our focus is to offer guidance and advice, and help outfit our neighbors with effective gear for their local fisheries. If we can support our local fishing tackle manufacturers by selling their products as well as helping more people enjoy success during their fishing time, then it fits in with our mission.
