While the excitement for our Washington Coast Halibut season can’t be contained, it really is up to mother nature to give the charter and recreational fleet the green light to head offshore and harvest up nature’s bounty. The greatly anticipated opener, last Thursday, was a big downer for many of us, as the weather didn’t allow anyone to leave the harbor. I spoke with Captain Mitch Coleman of Anglers Edge Sportfishing and Captain Nick Clayton of All Rivers and Saltwater Charters about today… both of them deemed it Redemption Day!
With favorable weather conditions, the Westport charter boat fleet was able to make their way offshore to the Halibut grounds and find their guests a great haul of Halibut, Lingcod and a few bonus deep-water Rockfish. Here are a few pics to get you excited about your next trip to the Washington Coast!
