Running from the Grays Harbor north jetty to the Copalis River, Copalis Beach is one of Washington’s four classic razor clam beaches and among the easiest to reach and enjoy. It passes Ocean Shores, Ocean City and Oyhut, so hotels, restaurants and other attractions are close by, making it ideal for a first dig or a full weekend getaway about 2.5 to 3 hours from Seattle.
Seattle Fishing Company’s guide highlights six maintained public access points, more than any other coastal razor clam beach, giving diggers room to spread out. A quarter-mile reserve near the Ocean City approach is closed to harvest. Seasons generally run from fall through spring, but Copalis alternates open days with Mocrocks, and each date depends on marine toxin testing, so confirm before driving out.
