Stretching about 28 miles from the Columbia River mouth north to Willapa Bay, Long Beach offers more room to dig than almost any razor clam beach in Washington. Small towns like Ilwaco, Long Beach, Ocean Park and Oysterville line the peninsula, and while it’s a 3- to 3.5-hour drive from Seattle, plentiful lodging makes it an easy weekend trip.
Seattle Fishing Company’s guide explains that Long Beach, like Twin Harbors, is typically open every day of an approved digging series, while Copalis and Mocrocks alternate. Seasons generally run from fall into spring, with each opening confirmed by marine toxin testing. Seven access points, including Seaview, Sid Snyder, Klipsan and Oysterville, spread diggers along the beach, and a quarter-mile reserve north of Oysterville is closed to harvest.
