Stretching from the Grays Harbor south jetty down to the north edge of Willapa Bay, Twin Harbors is one of Washington’s longest and most dependable razor clam beaches. Backed by Westport and Grayland, it’s about 2.5 to 3 hours from Seattle, and Westport’s charters, crabbing and amenities make it an easy base for a full coastal weekend.
Seattle Fishing Company’s guide explains why many diggers favor it: unlike Copalis and Mocrocks, which alternate days, Twin Harbors is generally open every day of an approved digging series. Seasons typically run from fall into spring, with each date confirmed only after marine toxin testing. The guide also covers license requirements, daily limits and the rule that every clam dug must be kept, regardless of size.
Four Highway 105 access points spread diggers along the beach, with walk-in options at Westhaven and Westport Light state parks. A quarter-mile reserve in the middle of the beach is closed to digging, so watch for markers. You’ll also find tips on spotting a clam’s “show,” using a clam gun versus a shovel, packing for cold, wet weather, and driving legally on the sand.
