Every year, Washington’s coastal marine areas are the first highlight to a long and bountiful saltwater fishing season. Westport, Washington is undoubtedly the busiest ocean port and more fishermen and fisherwomen get their ocean time here than all the other ports combined. And this April is shaping up to be a great month, either for those have already made a trip, or planning one to Westport.
All Rivers & Saltwater Charters‘ longtime captain, Nick Clayton had favorable seas, an eager crew, and awesome fishing today. They headed out of the boat basin early with a very calm ocean and a favorable marine forecast.
First stop was a trip to one of their trade-secret flounder zones, to load up on live bait for Lingcod. Once the live well was stuffed, they headed out to one of Nick’s favorite Lingcod spots and fishing was incredible. Talking with Nick, it sounded like it was as good as it gets and they were able to keep all high-grade Lingcod. I’ve been out on a number of these trips where you get bit as soon as your bait hits the bottom, and it sounds like these guys had the best of the best action!
Lately, Rockfish have been a little bashful, but the crew put in the effort and was rewarded with 6 limits of Rockfish and were back at the dock before 1pm. Epic work as always Captain Nick and thank you so much for sharing the report!
I’d highly recommend getting in on this trip, and All Rivers & Saltwater Charters offers a phenomenal Westport experience. Captain and crew on all of their boats are all friends of mine and share the passion of making a trip one for the memory books.
